A return visit to one of Barcelona's most rewarding wetland corners.

On June 6th, we're heading back to the Llobregat Delta β€” this time to Espais Naturals del Delta del Llobregat, a mosaic of wetlands, lagoons, and coastal scrub just south of the city. June means shorebirds, summer breeders, and the kind of early morning light that makes everything look cinematic. We will be walking β€” come prepared, come curious, and come ready to slow down and look carefully. 🌿

πŸ“ Meeting Point

  • Metro: CΓ¨ntric station (L9S) at 9:00am β€” we'll walk together from there
  • πŸ“… Saturday, 6 June Β· ⏰ 9:00am

πŸš— Coming by car?
You're very welcome to make your own way and meet the group directly at Mirador de l'Aeroport del Prat β€” there's parking nearby. Drop a comment below so we can time it right. πŸ“ https://maps.app.goo.gl/XjPcR6hv5qaRLw6E7

🌿 About the Area
Espais Naturals del Delta del Llobregat is a protected network of habitats in the Llobregat Delta β€” lagoons, reedbeds, agricultural land, and coastline all packed into a small stretch of land that punches well above its weight for birds. It's one of the most important wetland sites in Catalonia, and a key stopover on the Mediterranean migration route. Even in June, when migration quiets down, resident species and summer visitors keep things interesting.

πŸ₯Ύ What to bring

  • Comfortable walking shoes
  • Water and snacks
  • Binoculars if you have them (bring them β€” there'll be birds at distance worth looking at properly)
  • A field guide or Merlin app on your phone
  • Sun protection β€” June can be warm, and we'll be in open terrain
  • Mosquito spray β€” Something we learned from the previous walk!
  • πŸ“ Bring a pen β€” I'll share a simple way to start recording your sightings

🐦 What might we see?
The Delta is excellent for herons, egrets, waders, and terns in June. Summer breeders will be active, and the lagoons attract a good variety of waterbirds. Expect the unexpected β€” the Delta has a way of surprising you. 🌍

🀍 A few things to know
This is a free, community walk β€” just show up as you are.
We walk at a relaxed pace, with plenty of stops to watch and listen.
No birding experience needed β€” all levels welcome. You can leave whenever you want!
And as always β€” I'll be learning and birding alongside you. πŸ™πŸΌ
