Question for today's meet up: What does it mean to be Arab and what does it feel like to be an Arab in modern day Britain?

Join us for the first gathering of a new Meetup space for British Arabs and anyone interested in the British-Arab experience.

This event is for people of Arab heritage who were born, raised, or live in Britain, and who want to explore what it means to carry both British and Arab identities in everyday life. We will be opening up thoughtful, honest, and respectful conversations around the experiences many of us navigate: identity, belonging, family expectations, gender roles, dating, feminism, and the less spicy topics like language, culture, food, community, and how we see ourselves within Britain today.

The idea is we will meet in a nice cosy coffee shop ( here in lovely Birmingham) and respectfully discuss these topics.
The aim is to create a welcoming space where people can speak openly, listen generously, and connect with others who may share similar questions, tensions, stories, or perspectives. Whether you feel deeply connected to your Arab heritage, somewhat distant from it, or somewhere in between, you are very welcome.

Although the group is centred around British-Arab experiences, this event is open to everyone. People from all backgrounds, even if you came to the uk recently, you are welcome to attend, contribute, listen, and learn, provided you come with respect, curiosity, and an open mind.

This first meetup will be relaxed and conversational. No pressure, no formal speeches, and no expectation to have all the answers... just a chance to meet new people, share perspectives, and begin building a thoughtful community around culture, identity, and belonging.
