Details

The current prevalence of a remote workforce has forced rapid changes in the security landscape of many organizations. It has also put a spotlight on the importance of DevSec. As developers, security must be one of our top priorities during the development of systems and applications. With regards to user authentication, it is no longer sufficient to simply require a single factor for authentication. Multiple factor authentication (MFA) must be the new default. In this presentation, we will explore time-based one-time passwords (TOTP) and the algorithms used to implement TOTP in your own application. We will build an application that can use an authentication app like those from Google or Microsoft. To be thorough, we'll discuss how MFA can be hacked.
