Fatboy Slim: The Big Beat Legend Who Made the World Dance
Fatboy Slim is the stage name of Norman Cook, one of the most influential electronic music artists of the late 20th and early 21st centuries. He rose to global fame in the 1990s with his signature big beat sound – a high-energy fusion of breakbeats, hip hop, funk, and rock that dominated dance floors worldwide. Before becoming Fatboy Slim, Cook was part of several successful bands, including the indie rock group The Housemartins, who scored a UK number one hit with Caravan of Love in 1986. In the early 1990s, he shifted his focus to electronic music, experimenting with different aliases before settling on Fatboy Slim in 1996. His debut album Better Living Through Chemistry laid the groundwork for his distinctive style, but it was his 1998 follow-up You've Come a Long Way, Baby that catapulted him to superstardom, spawning hits like The Rockafeller Skank, Praise You, and Right Here, Right Now.
