The Roaches / Danebridge/ Luds Church Winter Hike
This 10-mile walk in the Peak District takes you through some of the area’s best scenery. You’ll climb up The Roaches for amazing views, walk down to the quiet green/foresty Danebridge, and explore Lud’s Church — a deep, mossy gorge full of mystery and history. The route finishes with gentle paths and open countryside, making it a great mix of hills, woods, and moorland.
Winter is different in this region and the rock formations vary and the amazing Luds Church will be bit more challenging so will be interesting. The route we did over the years is challenging and we will do the same again ..will be 9-10 miles depending on the weather with breaks in between and lunch stop around Gradbach Mill..
After we are done we can go food or drinks at the the Three Horseshoes Inn (5min drive)
We will need to start as early as possible so 9.30am meeting at the Roaches Tea Room as winter approaches we want to be done late afternoon, fed and watered at the local pub and restaurant and home before the winter darkness settles in!
Please note we will be parking outside the Roaches Team Rooms which will be our meeting point as there is free parking available..plus there is parking further up a 5min walk away hence why we need to leave our designated areas in the Midlands as early as possible!
Essential Winter warm clothing is necessary and decent walking and hiking footwear too..
