Art Exhibition Bar Crawl Route
# DUPLICATE X BLACK HOLE CLUB â TESTING AND TRYING OUT
Join us for an evening of experimental and temporary publications with Duplicate Publishing Fair before their launch at Birmingham School of Art on the 7 May.
Expect opportunities to make something new in a collage party, explore projection and more throughout the evening.
Stryx Shop Spring Fair
Following on from the success of our Stryx Shop Winter Fair last year. This will be a chance to come and meet the artists in person, purchase great, affordable art and help support their ongoing work. In addition, we are donating at least 20% of all sales to help those affected by the ongoing war in Ukraine.
There will be a mix of past favourites as well as some brand new pieces from photography, prints, jewellery, through to collage, paintings and clothing.
# Ewa Partum âMy Problem Is a Problem of a Womanâ
Partum has been a pioneer in Eastern European feminism, documenting her experiences both politically and personally through her art. âMy Problem Is a Problem of a Womanâ refers to the performance realised by Partum in ĹĂłdĹş in 1979, during which the artist recognised art as a tool of the feminist struggle developing tactics of resistance and protest through the means of art. Partums work has gone on to be exhibited worldwide and included in collections such Tate, London and MoMA, New York.
As part of the launch, we will have Partumâs live performative work âAction Tearjerkerâ. Following this, Selextorhood founder and DJ, Holly 1-10 will be hosting a live set including Funk, Jazz, Soul, and more to celebrate this exhibition as part of this launch.
# Congregation (Creating Dangerously Remix) BOTHY launch
Using public sculpture, film, workshops, and community gardening with womenâs groups, we seek to address issues surrounding use and ownership of land, and use congregation to consider notions of freedom and long-term healing.
We will be launching a large outdoor sculpture â a âbothyâ- for people to use as a place for shelter and rest in the Minerva Apothecary Garden. Working with Midlands-based womenâs organisations, we have grown The Minerva Apothecary Garden adjacent to our gallery space, full of healing herbs and plants.
Due to 2 of the Galleries not exhibiting this month, we will be taking the after party to two of Digbeths coolest hidden gems. The first of which will be the Industrial heart of DigBrewco, this is reopening launch night with in house brewed craft ales & stone baked Pizza on the menu. For those with real stamina, there is the after, after party. We head deeper into Digbeth to one of the trendiest, graffiti covered bars known as Dead Wax to talk & dance the night away.
Boucing back from Covid, the Art scene month by month will be featuring more and more galleries. In the months to come we should be back at 8 to 10 galleries/exhibitions :D

Alcoholic & Soft drinks will be available for purchase at all the Galleries taking part. Proceeds help fund these small independent gallery venues/artists.
Digbeth First Friday was created in Birmingham 2014 as a way of coinciding New Art Exhibitions, all on the the same evening.
