Join us for the final Golang Birmingham meetup of 2026!
We are bringing the Go community together for another evening of technical talks, practical insights, knowledge sharing and networking with fellow developers.
This time, we are delighted to welcome Godsend Joseph, alongside returning speaker Samuel Adetunji, who joined us for our previous meetup.
Whether you are new to Go, an experienced engineer or simply interested in backend development, there will be plenty to learn and discuss.

## Talk 1: Two Requests, One Credit Left: Preventing Quota Races in a Go SaaS API

Speaker: Godsend Joseph

Picture an API key with one credit left and two requests arriving at the same moment. Both check the balance, both see one credit, and both go through. I ran into this building a multi-tenant SaaS in Go, and the obvious fix doesn’t work. In this talk I’ll reproduce the bug live, show why check-then-decrement fails, and walk through how I fixed it with a usage ledger and Postgres advisory locks. I’ll also cover why I picked locks over the alternatives, and how I store API keys so a database leak doesn’t hand anyone a working key.

## Talk 2: To Be Announced

Speaker: Samuel Adetunji

We are delighted to welcome Samuel Adetunji back to Golang Birmingham!
Samuel is an experienced software engineer and open-source contributor with expertise in Go development.
At our previous meetup, Samuel delivered an insightful session titled Building Performance-Critical Applications in Go: Writing Unsafe Go, Safely, exploring performance optimisation and the challenges of balancing efficiency, safety and maintainability when building high-performance software in Go.
We look forward to having him share more of his technical knowledge and experience with the community.
Samuel's talk title and full session details will be announced shortly.

## Networking and Community

Beyond the talks, this is an opportunity to connect with fellow Go developers, exchange ideas, share experiences and meet others in Birmingham's growing technology community.
Developers of all experience levels are welcome.

We look forward to seeing you there!
