Cryptography at the Oscars? **Bitz & Flix Night** Followed by Bitcoins & Beer
Details
How about something a little different. Actor Benedict Cumberbatch has been nominated for an Oscar this year for his portrayal of mathematician Alan Turing in "The Imitation Game". Alan Turing is known as both the father of modern cryptography and computing. Along with actress Keira Knightley they spin the tale of how Turing managed to crack the Nazi enigma code that was thought to be unbreakable. Aside from some typical Hollywood-ization of the story this a great film for bitcoin enthusiasts as it might not exist if it were not for Turing's work. A brilliant demonstration of how arcane and outlying technology can, in a relatively short time span, go from one mans odd idea to a societal shifting and pervasive technology (hopefully Bitcoin will follow the same path) . It also touches on problems with cryptography which still exist today. Click here for more info on the film. (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2084970/)
After the showing we will be headed next door at 9:00p.m. to the recently opened Taco Mac at Suite 210 in the same complex as the Cinema to visit and discuss the film and bitcoin.
Look forward to seeing you there.
Sincerely,
Rich Clarke
