⚡ The Lightning Sessions #6: Back to the future! ⚡
Details
The #LightningSessions is a regular meetup that aims to give a better understanding of the (Bitcoin) Lightning Network. Together, we will explore the new possibilities and the emerging ecosystem. We'll have different guests that are working on building the Lightning Network protocol, Lightning Network implementations or different applications utilizing the Lightning Network.
The Lightning Network is a "second layer" payment protocol that operates on top of the Bitcoin blockchain. It enables fast transactions between participating nodes and is the most promising solution for the long-term scalability of Bitcoin. It features a peer-to-peer system for making micropayments of digital cryptocurrency through a network of bidirectional payment channels without delegating custody of funds.
This is the sixth session, in which we will take a step back and take a look at the basics of the Lightning Network again.
Do you find it hard to convince yourself how and why the Lightning Network really works? In order to understand the Lightning Network, we must become the Lightning Network. Again and again. Stefan Richter https://twitter.com/stefanwouldgo is a grey Bitcoin wizard and co-host of the Honigdachs podcast. He will take you on an interactive journey to explore what makes the Lightning Network tick. Active participation is highly encouraged! You should have a basic understanding of Bitcoin, but no prior knowledge of the Lightning Network is required. This improv session is well-suited for beginners, but also veterans will learn something new.
You'll also have the chance to get some Belgian hot chocolate, homemade ice cream and handpicked coffee and pay via Bitcoin/Lightning. If you don't have a wallet or any satoshis yet, we'll help you set it up and make your first transaction.
The meetup is brought to you by www.fulmo.org.
