Event information

Uncertainty and ambiguity regarding Bitcoin's legal and regulatory status in Canada has been an ongoing source of concern for Bitcoin community, particularly for investors and businesses. The Bitcoin Foundation Canada has been monitoring, analysing and influencing the regulatory process surrounding Bitcoin in Canada on behalf of its members and to the benefit of the entire community.

This event will be the occasion for us to share our findings and analysis on Bitcoin's legal and regulatory status in Canada and our experts will be available for questions.

Speakers

Jillian Friedman, Director of the Bitcoin Foundation Canada and legal counsel to the Bitcoin Embassy, will present a clear and accurate overview of Bitcoin's legal and regulatory status. Ms Friedman will also share the Bitcoin Foundation Canada's analysis of recent developments, outstanding issues and what we can expect in the near future. (30 min)

Phillipe-Antoine Plante, Director of the Bitcoin Foundation Canada and CEO of Quebec-based cryptocurrency exchange MORREX Inc., will relate his experience as a Bitcoin entrepreneur. (10 min)

Francis Pouliot, Director of Public Affairs at the Bitcoin Foundation Canada, will give an overview of the Bitcoin Foundation Canada's ongoing projects and will announce a new development regarding the BFC's involvement in the regulatory process. (10 min)

Networking and Q&A

After the presentations, attendees will be invited to ask questions to Bitcoin experts of the Bitcoin Embassy and the Bitcoin Foundation Canada. The question period will be followed by a short networking period, which may provide unique opportunities for those who attend. The networking period will end at 8:00 PM. The meetup will be held on the second floor of the Bitcoin Embassy. Come in through the main office’s door at 3485 St-Laurent

Note: puisque notre auditoire sera pan-canadien, nous avons décidé de tenir l'évènement en anglais.

L'incertitude et l'ambiguïté concernant le statut légal et réglementaire de Bitcoin au Canada continue d'être une source de préoccupation pour la communauté Bitcoin, particulièrement ses investisseurs et ses entrepreneurs. La Fondation Bitcoin Canada observe, analyse et influence le processus réglementaire entourant Bitcoin au nom de ses membres et pour le bénéfice de la communauté toute entière.

L'évènement sera l'occasion pour nous de partager nos observations et notre analyse sur le statut réglementaire de Bitcoin et nos experts seront disponibles pour répondre aux questions.

L'évènement sera diffusé sur Google Hangout et sera filmé pour visionnement futur. Les détails sur comment assister à l'évènement par internet seront mis sur le site de la Fondation Bitcoin Canada (http://ca.bitcoinfoundation.org/) et seront envoyés à nos membres par courriel.

Présentations

Jillian Friedman, Directrice à la Fondation Bitcoin Canada et avocate-conseil à l'Ambassade Bitcoin, présentera un portrait clair et précis du statut légal et réglementaire entourant Bitcoin. Me Friedman partagera également les conclusions de la Fondation Bitcoin Canada concernant les récents développements dans ce domaine, les enjeux en cours et ce à quoi on peut s'attendre dans un futur proche. (30 min)

Phillipe-Antoine Plante, Directeur à la Fondation Bitcoin Canada et fondateur de la plateforme d'échange de cryptomonnaies MORREX Inc., partagera son expérience en tant qu'entrepreneur Bitcoin. (10 min)

Francis Pouliot, Directeur des Affaires Publiques à la Fondation Bitcoin Canada et à l'Ambassade Bitcoin, donnera un aperçu des projets en cours de la FBC et annoncera un développement important concernant l'implication de la FBC dans le processus réglementaire. (10 min)

Réseautage et période de questions

Suite à la présentation, les invités pourront poser des questions aux experts de l'Ambassade Bitcoin et de la Fondation Bitcoin Canada. Ces questions seront suivies par une courte période de réseautage qui se terminera à 20h00.
