This is the fifth part of a 6-part educational series presented on Saturday afternoons by speaker Mario Gibney of Blockstream.

This talk is going to be rather different than the previous presentations. Rather than digging into technical concepts, we're going to cover an overview of Bitcoin's cultural development as we approach its 10th birthday.

We'll start out with the original cypherpunk roots that prompted the creation of this new money. We'll also talk about the various ideologies and groups that have gotten involved over the years, and about some of the major events and characters from the past 10 years that have shaped where the ecosystem has gotten to today.

There will be plenty of time for questions and discussion after the presentation is done, and the material should be accessible and interesting to people of all backgrounds and levels of Bitcoin expertise.

If you're coming, please RSVP at the DCTRL event page:

1of6 - Solving the Impossible: The Double-Spend Problem
2of6 - Transactions and Scripting
3of6 - Scaling on the Second Layer: Lightning Network
4of6 - Privacy and Fungibility
5of6 - History and Culture
6of6 - Beyond Money: What Blockchains Are and Aren't For

Each one is intended to build off of previously learned material, but also be informative and enjoyable as a standalone piece. So you'll get the most out of them if you can attend them all, but if you miss one or two, or join us halfway through, no sweat :)
