DIY Bitcoin Security 101 & The Halving {workshop}
Details
Join us for our monthly {workshop}! They're fun, informative, and highlight interesting and relevant topics to the bitcoin and open-blockchain community.
Project: This month we'll be exploring DIY Bitcoin Security 101 with BOB organizer Pamela Morgan (https://twitter.com/pamelawjd) and The Halving with BOB super member Mark Howard (https://twitter.com/mark_a_howard).
For Security 101, you'll learn how to properly backup your keys & how to store them, and how to set-up and use your own multisignature address - that you control yourself, along with other practical tips and best practices to keep your bitcoin safe.
For The Halving, we'll talk about what it is and why we care about it. We'll have some awesome Halving shirts for sale. We'll also have some paper wallets and maybe even a hardware wallet to give away during the session.
Note: the Art & Crypto {workshop} has been postponed until the fall.
Lightning Talks: All monthly workshop events include lightning talks by community members. In 3 minutes anyone can present their idea, ask for help, recruit partners, or launch new projects. It's a perfect opportunity to find co-founders, coders, advisors, designers, and clients to help make your idea a reality. Look for the sign-up sheet at the registration table.
Who should attend? All ages and experience levels are welcome. If you’re new, you’ll find friendly faces excited and ready to show you the ropes. If you’re a bitcoin or open-blockchain expert, you’ll find like-minded people to discuss new or existing projects.
Logistics: Plan to arrive at Bru between 3:30-3:50pm for networking and socializing until 4:00pm. Workshop events officially begin at 4:00pm and end between 5:00-5:30pm. After the event ends we'll be moving to Links Tap Room (http://www.linkstaproom.com/) for beer and conversation until 6:15-ish. This venue is family friendly, food and juice drinks are available, too. You'll find us in the meeting room at the back of the cafe. Look for the signs.
Please RSVP (https://www.meetup.com/Bitcoin-Open-Blockchain-Community-Chicago/events/231200005/)so we can get an accurate count for seating.
