Tales from the front line of operating a Bitcoin business {Workshop}
Details
Join us for our monthly workshops! They're fun, informative, and highlight interesting and relevant topics to the Bitcoin and open-blockchain community.
Project: This month Gil Valentine will be discussing his observations on the consumers of Bitcoin from the experience of someone who operates a Bitcoin business. Gil is a Chicago native and was previously an options trader for 20 years and a member of the CBOE & CME. He is an investor in Bitcoin since 2013. He became interested in building a Bitcoin business and, along with his partners, since 2014 has helped build one of the leading Bitcoin ATM companies. Beyond ATM's, his company, Athena Bitcoin, is actively engaged in the operation of other brands and Bitcoin companies that provide infrastructure critical to the easy access of Bitcoin to consumers and other practical applications of the use of Bitcoin. His duties at Athena Bitcoin Inc. include, but are not limited to, heading up compliance and customer service.
Lightning Talks: All monthly workshop events include lightning talks by community members. In 3 minutes anyone can present their idea, ask for help, recruit partners, or launch new projects. It's a perfect opportunity to find co-founders, coders, advisors, designers, and clients to help make your idea a reality. Look for the sign-up sheet at the registration table.
Who should attend? All ages and experience levels are welcome. If you’re new, you’ll find friendly faces excited and ready to show you the ropes. If you’re a Bitcoin or open-blockchain expert, you’ll find like-minded people to discuss new or existing projects.
Logistics: The workshop will be held between 5:30pm and 8:30pm. Plan to arrive by 5:30pm for networking and socializing, the event will begin at 5:45pm and end around 6:45pm. After the talk ends we'll be hanging around for beer and conversation.
This month the workshop will be held at Big Bricks, a restaurant/bar in Lakeview. It's located on Lincoln Ave south of Irving Park Rd and is within walking distance of the Brown line's Irving Park station. Street parking on Lincoln is metered and there is unzoned parking on side streets. We will be upstairs.
