{workshop} Dive into Monero

BOB is delighted to welcome Sarang Noether of Monero Research Labs for a deep dive into Monero. Here is the abstract for the workshop:

The Monero ecosystem is unique and driven by its community of researchers, developers, and users. As a result, a range of tools exists to understand and interact with the project. In this workshop, we'll examine Monero at different levels, depending on available time and participant interest. Play around with the underlying cryptography using simple prototyping libraries (Python). Or dive in and write some simple tests in the codebase (C++). The workshop will be very informal and a lot of fun.

Participants interested in tinkering with Python tools should have:
-- a basic knowledge of Python
-- a standard Python installation
-- a git installation
Linux is highly recommended for this. Specific GitHub repositories will be provided at the workshop.

Participants interested in tinkering with codebase tests should have:
-- read the information at https://github.com/monero-project/monero/blob/master/README.md
-- a basic knowledge of C++
-- a git installation
-- the required Monero build prerequisites (see link)
-- followed the instructions to clone and build the release-v0.13 branch (see link)
Linux is highly recommended for this. It's not required to run the Monero daemon and download the entire blockchain in order to write and run tests.

Logistics

The event will be held between 6:30pm and ~9pm at mHUB, which is an innovation center for physical product development and manufacturing and a co-working community. It is located just east of Chicago Ave and Milwaukee Ave, just a few blocks from the Kennedy expressway and the Blue line. We will be in the classroom straight down the hall, look for the BOB signs when you arrive.
