Privacy in Bitcoin and the Wasabi Wallet {talk}
Details
Bitcoin is touted as a digital currency with censorship resistance. However, a growing concern in the Bitcoin community is the issue of privacy. If a currency is not private, it jeopardizes the property of censorship resistance and introduces risks to the users. How much money do you have? Who do you work for? Where do you spend your money? These questions are rarely appropriate to ask someone but are currently available to those with forensics resources and motivation.
Aviv Milner from Wasabi Wallet will introduce some privacy issues with wallet infrastructure and common metrics used to break user privacy. He will then introduce some key design decisions in the Wasabi Wallet, and how they act to protect users from third parties - even the Wasabi Wallet backend!
If you are excited to talk about privacy, forensics, CoinJoins and more - this is the talk for you.
Aviv Milner is currently an independent researcher and consultant through Black Tie - a Vancouver based Bitcoin consulting company. He currently acts as the Technical Community Support for Wasabi Wallet, where he focuses on helping Bitcoiners better understand privacy best practices as well as independent research for future design decisions. His recent research work on privacy improvements and limitations will be the subject of a privacy presentation at this year's Scaling Bitcoin in Tel-Aviv.
