Trace Mayer is an entrepreneur, investor, journalist, monetary scientist and ardent defender of the freedom of speech. He holds a degrees in accounting and law. He has studied Austrian economics focusing on the work of Murray Rothbard and Ludwig von Mises.

In 2008 during the worldwide financial crisis he wrote The Great Credit Contraction explaining the causes and likely effects. Shortly later he was among the first popular bloggers to publicly recommend Bitcoin, as a virtual currency, in its infancy with a market cap under $2m and hosts the Bitcoin Knowledge Podcast (http://www.bitcoin.kn).

Then he started funding core Bitcoin infrastructure including (1) Armory which provides the foundational security for Bitcoin wallets, (2) Bitpay the largest Bitcoin merchant processor, (3) Kraken the largest Bitcoin/Euro exchange and a major worldwide liquidity provider, (4) Netagio the first gold and Bitcoin exchange and (5) Bitcoin Magazine.

Mr. Mayer has presented on Bitcoin, both objectively and persuasively, to a wide variety of audiences including members of the Federal Reserve, Bundesbank, major financial institutions, the IRS, FBI, FTC, HNWIs, conferences and many others on the topics of Bitcoin, cyber security, financial cryptography, digital currency, entrepreneurship and other topics.
