BitFriendly Bitcoin Meetup has no set structure.

Come and discuss the latest happenings in bitcoin and crypto with other bitcoin enthusiasts of all levels of experience.

If there is something you need help with or require to know in more detail just ask at the meetup or join our BitFriendly telegram group and pop us a question there.

This week we'll cover:

  • Again Bitcoin All time high [ https://cryptowat.ch/bitfinex/btcusd/1d ] $6199.9 (when this was written)

  • Did you got any Bitcoin Gold? Ok then how to?

  • What is SegWit2x? And how it has nothing to do with the SegWit ethos and why it's just a poor attempt to take over Bitcoin.

  • Miners, Nodes, Users, and how are they all connected.

  • Bitcoin works because it managed to align the incentives.

Common topics are:

• How to use a wallet, what wallet to use

• How to back up your Bitcoins

• How to use LocalBitcoins

• How to buy and sell Bitcoins

Regarding what wallet use to keep your bitcoins you have 3 options:

  1. FULL NODE WALLET - This is the wallet that downloads the Blockchain on your hard drive. How to set up one and where to download: https://bitcoin.org/en/full-node

  2. SPV(Simplified Payment Verification) WALLET or Lightweight client: This wallet it's a lighter version, and it does not download the Blockchain locally on your device. It connects to a trusted Bitcoin node and gets the info from it. The mobile it's such a wallet, but you can also have SPV wallets on your computer.
    Personally i recommend:

• For mobile: Green Address [https://greenaddress.it]. ;

Reason: (https://itunes.apple.com/app/id1206035886Reason:) It uses SegWit addresses. This means you get cheaper transactions. And it's developed by people that work on the Bitcoin Core project(the real Bitcoin, the one we all use).

• For computer: Electrum [https://electrum.org/] ;

All platforms here: https://electrum.org/#download

Reason: it supports:

• Integration with Hardware Wallets

• Cold Storage

• Coin Control - Send From & Freeze

• And it was very well receive by the community

  1. Hardware wallets: A hardware wallet is a special type of bitcoin wallet which stores the user's private keys in a secure hardware device.

Most well known are:

•Trezor [https://trezor.io/]

• Ledger [ https://www.ledgerwallet.com/ ]

Personally i don't use hardware wallets so i can't say i recommend them but for a "normal person" are a good option to keep your coins safe.
If you want to keep your coins safe but do not want to get a hardware wallet go

COLD STORAGE (This means to store your coins offline):Here is a tutorial : https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/How_to_set_up_a_secure_offline_savings_wallet
Any other questions just post them ;)
