SpaceChains & El Salvador - Advancing Bitcoin satelite event.

Taking advantage of the fact that Advancing Bitcoin is happening, we decided to get some guests that we would not usually find in London.
We will have to very different but equally interesting talks:
1. SpaceChains with Ruben Somsen
Ever since 2011, there have been numerous attempts to create assets that have trade-offs but still maintain the magic proprieties of Bitcoin.
Instead, we ended up with a lot of alternative chains that are detached from Bitcoin and that more importantly are not censorship-resistant.
Ruben came up with SpaceChains.
SpaceChains are trustless sidechains that allow us to create blockchains inside of the Bitcoin blockchain that doesn't require their own PoW, but instead pay fees to Bitcoin miners, and the miners turn the fees into PoW.
This opens a whole new world of possibilities, from Namecoin DNS stuff to chains specialized in privacy, to even USDT(or any asset for that matter) type Dexes.
Ruben TheWindmill, The Little Dutch boy, The Luminary, Somsen is a Bitcoin Sorcerer that does Bitcoin protocol design.
He also helps help maintain the bitcoin-dev mailing list, and is a co-host of the Unhashed Podcas , and organizer/founder of the Seoul Bitcoin Meetup.
2. What's happening in El Salvador with Carliño Toriello
What is happening with Bitcoin in El Salvador is beyond what anyone ever imagined. Never mind the fact that the President is dunking twitter on IMF and the US government.
Carliño is the community builder for IBEX, a pay-as-you-go PoS that enables merchants to receive payments in Bitcoin via Lightning and instantly convert to USD, or keep the Sats.
Since the Bitcoin Law was adopted IBEX processed hundreds of thousands of transactions, in El Salvador.
So who else could have better insights?
Carliño has been working to support the adoption of new technologies in Central America for over 12 years.
He organized Meetups in Guatemala City to decipher what opportunities lay for the region and was awarded the Government Blockchain Association’s 2020 Courage Award for his work in the Guatemalan election of 2019.
