What we’re about
The BWWG is a space for members to work on their own projects in a focused, supportive environment, in the company of other writers. The group began in 2017 as an in-person Meetup that gathered every Sunday for drop-in writing sessions at the historic central branch of the Brooklyn Library at Grand Army Plaza. Since the Covid-19 lockdowns in March 2020 in New York, the group has been meeting virtually twice per week for sessions in that same spirit. Members are no longer constrained by geography, though most of our members live in New York. The BWWG has always been and will always be welcoming, inclusive and absolutely free.
The Brooklyn Women's Writing Group uses an inclusive definition of the term “women”; we offer space and value the creative energy of all female-identified people--trans, cis, genderqueer, and gender-nonconforming--as well as non-binary people who feel aligned with myriad women's experiences, especially in the context of writing and creative practices.

See all- In-Person Writing Group in Park Slope at Sip & Play!Sip & Play, Brooklyn, NY
We are so excited to offer an additional in-person writing meetup! We will be meeting bi-weekly on Tuesdays from 7-8:30p pm at Sip & Play in Park Slope at 471 5th Avenue, Brooklyn, NY 11215.
We'll be meeting for an hour and a half to write our own personal projects, starting with a 15-minute discussion, one hour of collective writing, and ending writers are encouraged - but not required - to share some of their work after the writing portion of the session. We will give brief reactions to pieces including favorite lines/phrases, questions, what the piece reminded us of, and feelings/mood we took away. This will not be a full-on critique session, but a low-pressure opportunity to share and discuss our writing!.
If you have a writing project/practice that you'd like to bring in to work on, please do. If you don't, that's great too! We will provide a few prompts and exercises to get things started.
Sip & Play is Park Slope's first board game cafe. Their menu includes coffee, boba, sandwiches and snacks! We encourage attendees to help support the cafe by enjoying the their food and drink offerings.
Travel to and from Sip & Play with a short walk from the R train stop at 9th Street, or take the B63 bus. Sip & Play is located at 471 5th Avenue, between 10th and 11th Streets in Park Slope.
Looking forward to seeing you there!
