About us
Black Apparel Makers Support Circle – Los Angeles (BAMSC) is a grassroots community working to strengthen Black participation, ownership, opportunity and economic infrastructure throughout Greater Los Angeles’ apparel and fashion ecosystem.
We bring together Black apparel makers, fashion designers, brand founders, entrepreneurs, manufacturers, retailers, industry professionals and other fashion creatives to share knowledge, build relationships, discover resources and create meaningful connections.
Our approach is straightforward:
NAVIGATE WHAT EXISTS.
Help people better understand the Los Angeles apparel industry and find useful information, resources, referrals, guidance and next steps.
CONNECT WHAT EXISTS.
Strengthen relationships among Black designers, brands, manufacturers, production services, retailers, entrepreneurs and professionals—and connect our community with resources and opportunities throughout Greater Los Angeles.
HELP BUILD WHAT’S MISSING.
Identify gaps in Black-owned apparel infrastructure and help people recognize and explore viable opportunities for businesses and services our ecosystem needs—from production and manufacturing to logistics, retail and supporting services.
BAMSC is not here to duplicate organizations or resources that already exist. We help people navigate what already exists, connect what can work better together, and identify what is still missing.
We believe meaningful economic progress can begin at the grassroots level.
One designer finding the right production resource matters.
One Black-owned service business gaining new customers matters.
One retailer connecting with local Black-owned brands matters.
Ten businesses consistently referring work to one another matters.
That is how an ecosystem becomes stronger—from the ground up.
