Step into nature with us for a grounding hike on the Oak Trail in Epping Forest. This is a welcoming, no-pressure space for Black women to move, connect, and recharge. We’ll walk at a moderate pace with plenty of pauses for photos, chat, and water.
Meeting point to be sent 48 hours before event.
The Route
- Trail: Oak Trail
- Distance: approx. 6.5–7 miles / 10–11 km
- Duration: 3–4 hours at a moderate pace
- Terrain: woodland paths, roots, uneven ground, some short inclines; can be muddy after rain
Fitness & Pace (Please read before booking)
This route is a proper hike, not a gentle stroll. You’ll need a good base level of fitness and must be comfortable walking 10–11 km (6.5–7 miles) on uneven, sometimes muddy woodland trails with a few short, steep sections, carrying your own water/snacks.
- Pace: steady social pace with brief pauses; no extended stops
- Moving time: approx. 3–3.5 hours (total event time 3–4 hours)
- You should be happy walking continuously for 60–75 mins between short breaks
If you’re currently recovering from injury/surgery, or find uneven ground challenging, this hike isn’t suitable.
Daylight & Timings
As it gets dark earlier, we need to complete the circuit in daylight.
- Set-off is prompt. We can’t hold the group for late arrivals.
- If you arrive after the start time, you’ll be unable to join for safety reasons.
Kit Checklist (required)
- Sturdy footwear with good grip (hiking shoes/boots strongly recommended)
- Water (1–1.5L) + snacks/packed lunch
- Waterproof jacket and layers (British weather is unpredictable)
- Blister plasters; hiking poles optional but helpful on inclines
- Small backpack; travel light
Late / Cancellations
Places are limited to keep the group safe and moving. Please only book if you can attend and meet the fitness guidance. We hike in light rain; severe weather may postpone.
