Trevor Noah’s memoir explores his childhood and young adulthood in apartheid and post-apartheid South Africa. The title, Born a Crime, reflects that Trevor’s very existence was illegal: his mother is Black (Xhosa) and his father is white (Swiss), and at the time, interracial relationships were punishable by prison.
