About us
Black Girls & Their Dogs is a community for Black women who love their fur babies and want real connection. Whether you’re African American, Afro-Latina, Afro-Asian, Afro-Caribbean, Black girls from the continent, or proudly layered in all your identities, this space is for you. We gather to let our dogs socialize, but we also gather for us: to decompress, laugh, vent, talk politics, talk life, celebrate wins, and build genuine sisterhood.
This is a space to be unapologetically Black — textured, nuanced, opinionated, soft, strong, joyful, tired, brilliant, all of it. Bring your dog. Bring your full self. We’ll take walks, host park meetups, grab coffee, maybe even plan the occasional dog-friendly brunch. Our pups co-mingle while we build community rooted in care, culture, and companionship.
### 🐾 Dog Guidelines
- Dogs must be up-to-date on vaccinations.
- Dogs should be friendly and comfortable around other dogs and people.
- If your dog has reactivity issues, please use appropriate training tools (leash, harness, muzzle if necessary).
- Dogs must remain leashed unless we are in a designated off-leash area.
- Owners are responsible for cleaning up after their pets (bring bags!).
- If your dog shows signs of aggression, excessive barking, or stress, please remove them from the group area for everyone’s safety.
### 🌸 Community Guidelines
- This space centers Black women. Allies are welcome only if explicitly invited for specific events.
- Respect different political views, but no hate speech, colorism, homophobia, transphobia, anti-Blackness, or misogynoir.
- What’s shared in the group stays in the group.
- No unsolicited business pitching unless the event is specifically for networking.
- Lead with kindness. We are here to uplift, not compete.
