Virtual Movie Night with BGA 🎬

For the ones who don’t fly home for the holidays, or whose homes feel complicated:

From the very beginning of Black Girls Autumn, I said we would make the fall/winter/holiday season whatever we wanted it to be, and I meant that.

Not everyone goes home for Thanksgiving.
Not everyone’s “home” feels safe or warm. So we will be the warmth.

Join BGA for a virtual movie night. 🎬 I’ll be here in my cozy pajamas, multiple blankets, and snacks in hand. We’ll stream a feel-good movie or one that makes us yell at the screen (hehehe), chat in real time, and create a space that feels super cozy and connected. Hot chocolate encouraged.

How to join the movie night:
1. You’ll need to use a laptop or desktop.
Teleparty doesn’t work on phones or tablets.

2. Add the Teleparty browser extension.

• Go to the Chrome Web Store.
• Search Teleparty.
• Click Add to Chrome.
• Here's the direct link.
• After it installs, you’ll see a little red TP icon at the top of your browser.

3. Log in to Netflix

4. Clip the Teleparty link here.

• After you click the link, the movie page will open.
• Click the red TP icon (top right of your screen). That drops you into the watch party.

5. You’re in! 🎉

• The movie will play at the same time for everyone.
• There’s a chat box on the side where we can react and talk while watching.

6. If you want to watch the movie on your tv, you can send the screen to your tv using:

• AirPlay
• Cast/Chromecast
• HDMI cable
