After some thought, and considering the depth and importance of our next read, "Black Diamond Queens: African American Women and Rock and Roll" by Maureen Mahon, I've decided to give us all a bit more time to truly delve into this incredible book.

We will now be meeting in August. This will ensure everyone has ample time to read all 408 pages and really absorb the rich history and insights Maureen Mahon provides.

About the Book: This groundbreaking non-fiction book boldly rewrites the history of rock and roll, focusing on the pivotal, yet often uncredited, roles that African American women played in shaping the genre from the 1950s to the 1980s. Maureen Mahon delves into the lives and music of iconic artists like Big Mama Thornton, LaVern Baker, Betty Davis, Tina Turner, Labelle, and many more. It's a powerful and essential read for anyone passionate about music, history, and social justice.
