Sistas, Welcome!
One of the best ways to start a new relationship is by greeting each other warmly. Let us as Black women borrow from the traditions of our ancestors to welcome each other warmly, to make each other feel at home at each meetup that we attend. Let's take a few minutes to welcome attendees, offer them a warm greeting, and spend some time connecting as human beings, whether that's by complimenting a Sista, asking how she is doing, or just letting her know that you are glad that she is joining us. Being intentional about how we welcome someone goes a long way to forging a connection and helps us on the path to nurturing healthy relationships.
Africans traditionally value the act of welcoming guests as a fundamental part of their culture, even to strangers, considering them as temporary members of the community. Each meeting with a stranger is an opportunity to demonstrate a deep-rooted sense of hospitality, expressed through genuine smiles, enthusiastic greetings, and a sincere desire to make guests feel instantly at home.
What is THIS meetup about?
To build a strong community of Black women, we will spend some time perfecting our welcoming each other into our designated space. We will, with intentionality, pour into those whom we greet and intentionally make them feel warm and welcome by actually saying hi, and asking who we are doing. We will practice mindfulness during our greeting, making sure to tune in to our own energies and insecurities, and overriding them with a genuine sense of Sisterhood.
What else will go on during this event? TBD
What should I be mindful of during the meetup?
Please be mindful to keep comments to no more than 2 minutes. And also, please be respectful and kind to one another. Bring your positive energy and come to have an amazing conversation.
Always check back for updates.
I'm SO looking forward to meeting you and building a strong community of Black women who are authentically connected.
Feel free to call me with any questions.
Hope to see you there!
Warmly,
