For generations, the Black Church has been a central force in shaping identity, community, and culture. But for those of us who’ve experienced religious abuse or religious trauma within that space, disentangling our true selves from those expectations can feel overwhelming—or even impossible.

In this meetup space, we’ll explore how our identities were shaped—or constrained—by religious teachings, church roles, family expectations, and religious labels. We'll reflect on what it means to be seen beyond our spiritual performance or obedience, and how we can reconnect with the parts of ourselves that were buried, silenced, or shamed.

You don’t need to have all the answers. You just need space to ask the question: Who am I, really?
And this space is here for that.
This group is for us by us, open-hearted, and grounded in the belief that healing is possible. Join us for deep reflection, real connection, and a powerful step toward reclaiming your full, authentic self—outside of the walls that once confined you.
