Reclaiming My Voice: Speaking Up After Being Silenced by Religion Abuse

Details

There comes a moment in every survivor’s journey when the silence becomes too heavy to carry. When the weight of unspoken truths, suppressed questions, and swallowed grief becomes unbearable. For Black religious trauma survivors, that silence was often taught as holy, but it came at the cost of our voice.

In this support space, we’ll reflect on the ways religion suppressed our voices—through shame, control, fear, or manipulation. We’ll make room for the anger we weren’t allowed to feel, the stories we were too afraid to tell, and the self-expression we were taught to hide.

Together, we’ll create space for the voice that’s been waiting to speak—not just in words, but in truth, in power, in freedom.
Come ready to listen deeply, speak honestly, and hold space for your own becoming. Your voice was never the problem—it was always the key. Let's reclaim our voice & sound!
