Advanced Bluegrass Americana Jam Session (ABAJS)
Details
Join us for this dynamic Americana/Bluegrass jam at the Treehouse Cafe. This twice-monthly jam at the Treehouse Cafe on Saturday mornings is more advanced than other Black Rose bluegrass jams, and also spans across various Americana formats. This is a great jam to come listen to if you want to hear how a more advanced jam works and sounds! (Plus we love supporting Sara, owner of the Treehouse Cafe!)
ABAJS Rules
Support Others
This is a friendly inviting jam, where all players who exercise good rhythm and technique are allowed to join. All jammers will be supportive and kind to each other.
Play From Memory
Festival style jamming requires a musician to call a song and teach it to the other jammers. Using a chord chart gets in the way of facilitating this memorization process.
Take A Solo
All jammers are required to solo at least once during the jam. Nobody is asking you to sound amazing, but it is important to grow as a musician. Harmony is also encouraged, join in on the chorus!
No Jam Busters
Songs called will be appropriately structured to be able to be taught to the other jammers in a timely fashion. Excessively complex songs that require 5+ minutes of instruction will be played at other jams.
Genre Bending Is Allowed
The premise of this jam is to allow musicians of separate genres to enjoy songs they might not normally play. This jam is focused on but not limited to: Bluegrass, Americana, Folk, Western Swing, Country, Rock, and other acoustic interpretations of music, as long as it is appropriate to the jam.
Bring A Dulcimer
Musicians are allowed to bring any style of acoustic instrument as long as it is not used disruptively and played with respect to the song.
Have Fun!
