Blackbox Pro Wrestling and Experimental Theater Club

Blackbox Pro Wrestling and Experimental Theater Club is a New Orleans-based collective for people who live somewhere between the wrestling ring and the stage. We train in a private practice space in the Irish Channel, a 16-foot professional ring in a garage, with an emphasis on physical storytelling, character development, and movement ritual. This is not a traditional wrestling gym. There are no hazing traditions, no gatekeeping, no "earn your suffering" culture. We draw from pro wrestling, physical theater, performance art, and body-based practice. If you grew up on lucha libre, Lynch films, anime, post-punk, or absurdist theater, you'll probably feel at home here.

We are building toward original productions, experimental one-act performances, and pop-up shows that treat the wrestling ring as a theatrical space. All experience levels welcome. All bodies welcome. All identities welcome. Pay-what-you-can structure, no one turned away. If you've ever felt too weird, too thoughtful, or too poetic for the usual gym, this might be your ring.
