Black Butterfly: Fall Gathering
For those who are Black or Indigenous, Disabled, and Neurodivergent
Hi and welcome! On November 8 at 2pm, we’ll come together for the Black Butterfly Fall Gathering - a space for connection and renewal among those who understand the beauty and complexity of being Black or Indigenous, disabled, and neurodivergent.
This gathering is an invitation to slow down and root into community as we celebrate the season of fall, Native American Heritage Month, and the beauty of being together in nature.
This will be a low-key gathering where we’ll spend time by the lake, share conversation, and enjoy a few light creative activities. We look forward to seeing you there.
Directions - Black Butterfly Fall Gathering
📍 Lake Kittamaqundi (Columbia Lakefront), Columbia, MD
- Set GPS to: 10211 Wincopin Circle — next to the LAK Hotel.
- Park in the garage in front of 10211 (accessible parking available).
- Once you exit the garage, stay to the right of the 10211 building. You’ll see stairs and an access ramp leading down toward the Sushi Sono restaurant.
- From Sushi Sono, facing the lake:
- Take the downhill path to your left.
- You'll come upon a fork in the path once you pass the back of the hotel, veer right, always hugging the water.
- Shortly after the path will lead to an open area and to your left you'll you’ll see a set of benches under a canopy of trees. This is where we’ll meet. Look for a vase of flowers or other marker to identify our group.
Notes: It's about a 10 minute walk from Sushi Sono to the spot at a 'moderate' pace. This spot is separate from and more secluded than the main lakefront area. The seating here is picnic benches, they do not have back support so you're welcome to bring a camping chair or cushion for comfort.
