Join us for the first session of Dance the Diaspora, a monthly virtual series that explores dance styles from across the African diaspora.
This session features Afrobeats with Khadeejah, a dancer trained across styles from West Africa, South Africa, the Caribbean, Brazil, and the United States. Her classes blend movement with cultural context, so you understand both the steps and where they come from.
This experience has two parts. We start with a one hour Afrobeats class, where you will learn foundational steps and build into simple choreography. We then move into a guided dance party where you can practice, freestyle, and enjoy the music in a more relaxed space.
No experience is needed. All levels are welcome. Come ready to move and have a good time.
