Emergency Preparedness with Black Philadelphia!

A failure to plan is a plan to fail. Come for the READYHome Emergency Preparedness Workshop hosted by the Philadelphia Office of Emergency Management. Special thanks to our Special Events Director, Deandra, for suggesting and hosting this great event!

What will YOU do if a natural or man-made emergency strikes?

We need only to think about the major disasters that have occurred in the last few weeks: hurricanes, mudslides, and wildfires. In the Philly area we are fairly protected but we've had water main breaks, fires, winter storms and other issues, and lest we forget the earthquake of 2014 (lol). Do you have food, water and supplies for every member of your household should there be a utility interruption for more than one day? First Aid kit? Don't forget that Philly sits within 30 miles a nuclear power plant and has a few oil refineries within the city limits.

Details

This will give residents easy-to-follow tips on how to come up with an emergency plan. These plans include family members with disabilities, for pets, and how to shelter in place. We also let you know about ReadyPhiladelphia (https://alpha.phila.gov/departments/emergency-management/programs/readyphiladelphia/), Philadelphia’s emergency text and email alert system. Learn how to prepare for any emergency, develop a household emergency plan, create a Go Bag and a Shelter-in-Place Kit, and stay informed during an emergency. If you have pets, you'll need to prepare for them as well.

This is important information everyone should have to protect themselves, their family, their pets, and their home.

Bring a friend or significant other, or just make sure to spread the knowledge!!

We have to have a minimum of 20 people attend.
