It's A Black Faerie Picnic!!!
The Barnes Arboretum at Saint Josephās University, 50 Lapsley Lane, Merion Station, pa, USWE'RE CELEBRATING BLACK FAE DAY (we're a little late, but who cares?)!! Celebrate the summer at the Black Faerie Picnic with Black Philadelphia!
We are finally emerging from our winter hiding places, and we're ready to shine. Let's gather in a lovely garden space, eat, and take pics as you dazzle in your sparkliest, sassiest tutu, that jumpsuit you never get to wear, or your frilliest sundress! Whether you're drawn to be a wood elf or a dark maleficent-style fairy, wings and sparkles are required. The cameras will be out and ready, and because we are fancy brown sugar faeries! FAERIE WINGS & ATTIRE ARE REQUIRED FOR EVERYONE...because we are being extra!!
Respecting the Garden
- Please do not climb our trees.
- Refrain from entering garden beds.
- Please do not collect any material from the garden
- Please do not litter, trash receptacles are provided near the service building and Welcome Center.
- Pets are not permitted on the grounds with the exception of service animals.
- Please refrain from sporting activities (e.g. golf, frisbee, etc.).
- Saint Joseph's University is a smoke-free campus, no smoking is permitted on the grounds.

This is a BYO picnic, chair and/or blanket. There are all types of restaurants and markets along City Ave to get food, from Landmark Americana to ACME to McDonald's.
Agenda
The fun starts at 12pm! Dance to music...munch on tasty snacks...sip on tasty beverages...take lots of pictures...play some games...blowing bubbles, and being our sassy, fabulously sparkly selves. Do I see a Faerie Runway moment?

Community Service at Small Things with Black Philadelphia!
Small Things Warehouse, 401 Domino Lane, Philadelphia, PA, USWe are participating in a community service project. We are helping with the Saturday food packing at the Small Things Warehouse!
Looking for an opportunity to give back? What better way than to serve a meal to some of Philadelphia's citizens experiencing extreme poverty and food insecurity? This service event is for individuals 13 years and older.
"We Believe that Small Things are How Change Happens"
"Our warehouse is located at 401 Domino Ln in Roxborough. Parking is available in the front of the building and volunteers can enter through the main gate, our door is on the left under the covered area. PLEASE USE THE VOLUNTEER ENTRANCE to enter the warehouse, do not go around the back to the loading dock area.
PLEASE WEAR CLOSED-TOE SHOES and clothing that you feel comfortable moving around in! Keep in mind that our warehouse is roughly the same temperature inside as the weather outside."SERIOUS COMMITMENTS ONLY! Small Things
They rely on volunteers to help us sort donations and pack over 1,000 food boxes a week to meet the needs of our community partners. Every small act of service goes a long way to helping families in need!"Small Things distributes food, hygiene, and household goods to our network of local partners, which is comprised of community centers, food pantries, and churches in and around Philadelphia, PA. Our partners understand the needs of their communities, and we supply them with the resources necessary to meet those needs."
