Weekly Tai Chi in the park

Beginner-to-Intermediate instruction
We have very good Tai Chi in Colorado Springs already, so the niche I am attempting to fill is a heavy focus on foundation, applied theory, and streamlining the path from "Where do my hands go again?" to self-correction and an experiential understanding of what makes this martial art a "moving meditation" which is most often practiced for health benefits!
Streamlined warmup and cool down
Taking 15-30 minutes depending on the amount of instruction required (10-15 minutes at home, once you've learned them), these movement practices will "create a Tai Chi body," as my teachers would say. Each movement enable and demonstrates principles, proper alignment, and true release (relaxation around structure) so even if you aren't feeling your best before class, you'll feel great by the end!
The warmup would ideally be practiced every day for 100 days in the beginning, so I'm working on videos to aid in taking on that challenge.
Modified 24 form
A "competition" or "Wushu" taolu (form/kata) created to standardize Tai Chi for teaching to a broader, modern audience. I have reintegrated Yang Chengfu's 10 Essential Principles and the concept of "six harmonies" to enable all of Tai Chi's famous health benefits in a form that takes half the time of the traditional 108 to learn or perform.
While martial applications were largely stripped from the 24 form, we have the option in this class to practice partnered work and discuss/test martial applications, if that's what you're looking for! Taijiquan (the correct spelling for the martial-inclusive art) has answers for every range, including grappling, and contains strikes, kicks, joint locks, and breaks hidden to various degrees in the "techniques."
Classes are free with a suggested donation of $10, if you are so inclined. Proceeds support teaching props, business overhead, and continued education. Cash or Paypal preferred.
Please don't feel pressured to donate! The goals in hosting this group are to spread the art and it's benefits and to practice in a lovely outdoor setting with like-minded community.
