Join us for fun and social inline skating / rollerblading along the beautiful Waterfront Trail in Toronto!

The Skate

The meeting and starting point is the large gates / entrance of the Sunnyside Park Pavilion. From there we usually will skate east towards Ontario Place. We may even skate as far as downtown Toronto depending on how the group feels. We finally return west back to Sunnyside Park to arrive somewhere between 8:30-9:15 pm depending on the speed of the group.

On some days we may head west from the start point instead (towards Humber Bay Park) and then skate east for the return. It all depends on how the group of skaters feel that evening. :)

Safety

The trail is 99% paved (concrete / asphalt) with only some parts having interlocking bricks, paving stones, sewer grates, etc. Please be very careful when going over these parts. The trail is also 99% for pedestrian/bicycles only. Occasionally we will need to cross driveways or streets where vehicles enter/exit from Ontario Place, parking lots, or buildings garages.

For the most part we will only be with other pedestrians or cyclists. We will usually NOT skate on the road or alongside any cars. Just in case, it is always best to be aware of your surroundings and keep attention for vehicles, cyclists and pedestrians that might cross the trail.

We highly recommend you wear a helmet, wrist, elbow and knee guards, and other padding around your thighs and bums. These are optional of course but you are entirely responsible and liable for your own safety.

Flashlight, helmet light, glow sticks are good things to bring as sometimes we are still skating back to the starting point after sun has started setting. Water and food is handy to have to keep up your energy levels. If possible, you can bring comfortable shoes just in case you are no longer able to skate back to starting point.

Skill Level

Skaters from all skill levels are welcome including Advanced skaters (if they are okay with the slower pace :)

NOTE: Absolute beginners should NOT attend as you might not be able to enjoy if you are unable to keep up with the overall group. A good way to measure is this: If you are comfortable continuously skating a distance of 3km without taking a break or experiencing back pain then you should be okay to join us.

Weather

Please dress for the weather but keep safety in mind. Any exposed skin may have risk to a) sunburn from being outside in the hot sun for multiple hours or b) friction burn from falling on concrete or asphalt at high speed.

If there is precipitation in the forecast then this event will be updated to notify if we are still going to skate or whether it will be cancelled.
