Let's have a BLAST partying on the beach and snorkeling with other women. If it's too wavy to snorkel, we'll swim!
***
THIS IS A WEATHER-DEPENDENT EVENT — If it's storming, we'll obviously cancel. If you're not sure, check back here to see if it's still on. Sometimes it's raining in other places, but not here on Singer Island. If in doubt, call Janis at (561) 281-6880 before you head out.
***
COST: Free
***
TIME: You can arrive and leave at any time, but look for the BLAST banner on the sand from 10am-1pm.
***
PARKING & HOW WE'LL FIND EACH OTHER (IMPORTANT): Free parking in large lot. When you enter the Ocean Reef Park parking lot, turn RIGHT and go as far as you can. (Go to the SOUTHERNMOST end of the parking lot.) Past the bathhouse, you'll see a wooden bridge that takes you to the beach.
***
WHAT TO BRING
• Lots of water
• Snorkel and mask - fins are optional
• Beach towel, sunscreen, sunglasses, and hat
• Beach chairs & umbrellas highly recommended
***
NO FISHING: No fishing of any kind during this event.
***
LUNCH AND SUCH: Bring whatever you want to drink at the beach, and if you're staying awhile, maybe bring a picnic lunch. There are some grills available for use at the park if you want to make a whole day of it.
***
PETS: No pets at this event, please.
***
ABOUT OCEAN REEF PARK: Ocean Reef Park has more than 700 feet of guarded beach frontage, including playground, picnic areas, snorkeling, and showers. Calm surf and a marked swimming area make this a good spot for families. Snorkelers will see colorful tropical reef fish, and possibly some combination of squid, rays, lobsters, snook, needlefish, pipefish, turtles, manatees, crabs, jellyfish, and other creatures that make the reef their home. You never know. http://www.pbcgov.com/parks/locations/oceanreef.htm
***
DRIVING DIRECTIONS: Ocean Reef Park is on the east side of A1A between Blue Heron and PGA. It can be approached from the south by Blue Heron Boulevard (I-95 exit 76) or from the north via PGA Blvd. (I-95 exit 79A). Both turn into Singer Island's one road: A1A aka Ocean Blvd. aka Jack Nicklaus Drive.
