Old Croton Aqueduct -> Rockefeller State Park Preserve Hike

Details

Join us for a pleasant day of hiking in the scenic Rockefeller State Park Preserve. Close to NYC and accessible via transit, this area features a dense network of easy trails around hills, ridges, and lakes.

This will be a relatively gentle hike, but you should still be prepared for some steep climbs, varied terrain, and to hike for 4+ hours. Therefore you must be in good shape and free of injury. An exact route and distance will be posted closer to the hike date, but is subject to change.

Train travelers will meet at the clock at Grand Central Terminal at 9am for the 9:23am Hudson Line train to Tarrytown, arriving at 10:16am. Drivers can park at or near the train station. We will meet at the south end of the old station building and start out at 10:30am. A carpooling spreadsheet will be sent out the week of the hike.

We will take Franklin St to the Old Croton Aqueduct and from there to the state park.

Please bring 2L of water, a snack and a small lunch. Due to the dense network of trails in this area, bringing a map or app is suggested. The weather forecast (as of 6/2) calls for partly cloudy skies with temps in the 70s-80s.

We will finish with late lunch and drinks at a local restaurant.
