Last Minute Day Hike to Lake Awosting Beach

The weather forecast for this Sunday looks promising! And we haven't been to Lake Awosting beach for swim this summer yet! It's last minute, but we still may get a few people interested in coming!

The plan is as usual. We'll leave NYC around 8:30 a.m. on Sunday. We'll carpool, and all cars will meet at the Lake Minnewaska State Park visitor center around 10:45 a.m. From there, we'll hike to the Lake Awosting beach, spend two hours at the beach, and then finish the loop. Expect some decent climbs and up to 12 miles of hiking. After the hike, we will stop in New Paltz for dinner. We should be back in NYC around 8:30 p.m.

The number of participants is limited by the number of cars/drivers we have. Please sign up on the waiting list, and as drivers sign up, I'll move more of you to the 'yes' column. I'll share the carpooling sign-up spreadsheet on Friday evening.

What do you need?

• At least 2 liters of water, plus lunch and snacks.
• Hiking boots or good sneakers.
• Swim trunks and a towel (and sunscreen!).
• Cash for the drivers (gas and tolls), the park entry fee, and dinner.

The weather forecast looks great—sunny and in the low 80s. Perfect weather for a summer hike and swim!
