Day Hike at Black Rock Forest State Park, NY

Details
Black Rock Forest is the largest area in the Highlands with a sustained elevation over 1,200 feet. Here, the mountains plunge for more than 1,000 feet to the west, north, and south, providing hikers with sweeping vistas and strongly contrasting habitats.
The park is about 50 miles north of New York City. The number of participants is limited by the number of available carpool spots (or take the bus). Please sign up for the waiting list, and as more drivers volunteer, I will open more slots.
The plan is to leave the City in the morning around 9 am and meet at Dunkin' in Highland Falls, NY, around 10:10 am. From there, we'll drive together a few miles to the park. I will share a carpooling spreadsheet with those who sign up on Friday in the evening.
We will hike 10-12 miles through the park's hilly terrain, which offers beautiful views. The hike is considered difficult due to the distance and changes in elevation. That said, it is suitable for beginners who are in good physical shape.
The weather forecast looks good, with sunny skies and temperatures expected to be in the upper 70s. Nevertheless, you should still bring a rain jacket. You must also bring at least 2 liters of water and a lunch/snacks.
I will bring a map, a compass, a first aid kit, and other essential gear. If you have a specific question for me, please email me. If you have a question for the group, please post it on the event page.
