BLAZE Bday Hike @ Harriman State Park

BLAZE is turning 17 next week! Let's celebrate by going on a fall hike. The weather is perfect for a hike with the leaves on the tip of changing colors.

The scheduled hike will be about 11 miles with a total elevation gain of about 2000 feet. This is a difficult hike because of the mileage hiked and elevation gained. Only physically fit individuals should participate, though no prior hiking experience is necessary. The hike is outlined in this link to All Trails:

The number of participants is limited only by availability of carpool seats. A carpooling sign-up spreadsheet will be sent out on Friday morning. Please expect to contribute $15-$25 to your driver if you are carpooling.

The plan is to leave New York City around 9:30 a.m. on Sunday so that all of us can meet at the parking lot by 10:30 a.m. See the exact address above on this page.

Everyone should bring some lunch, snacks, and at least two liters of water for the hike. The weather currently looks good but can be a tad nippy. Expect temperatures in the 70s. As for gear, everyone should have good boots or sneakers. Dress in layers as you will warm up as we move and become cold if we stop.

Depending on interest, we may go somewhere nearby for a bite and/or drink after the hike.
