Hudson Highland Fall Hike - Storm King and North Point

Details

Join us for a fun and challenging Hudson Highland hike with beautiful fall colors, varied terrain, and spectacular views of the Hudson Valley. The hike starts at 10:00am from the Storm King Trailhead Parking Lot.

We will cover 9 miles with a total elevation gain of about 2800 feet. This is a moderate length but difficult hike because of elevation gained with some steep portions (though the views are totally worth it). Only physically fit individuals should participate, though no prior hiking experience is necessary. The hike is outlined in the following link:

All hikers will receive a carpooling sign-up spreadsheet Tuesday morning before the hike. Drivers if you are coming up the Hudson on 9, it would be great if you could pick up hikers at the Peekskill Station. Hikers expect to contribute $15-$25 to your driver if you are carpooling from the city or if driver's are picking you up from MetroNorth Peekskill Station.

The plan is to leave New York City around 8:30 a.m. on Sunday so that everyone can meet at Storm King parking lot by 10:00 a.m. Hikers, if you are meeting drivers at Peekskill, you have to be on the 8:08 MetroNorth train to Poughkeepsie and get off at Peekskill (you will arrive at 9:09). Also if there is enough hikers coming from Manhattan, getting a zip car or carpooling by Uber from Peekskill is also an option.

Everyone should bring some lunch, snacks, and at least 2-3 liters of water for the hike. Expect temperatures in the 70s. As for gear, everyone should have good boots or sneakers. Dress in layers as you will warm up as we move and become cold if we stop.

Depending on interest, we will grab food and/or drinks after the hike at Peekskill Public Food and Bar (4 blocks from the train station) Link for Peekskill Public Food and Bar
