Snowshoeing in Minnewaska / Max G’s Birthday!
Details
Hi everyone,
We have snow, and the weather is looking great for next Saturday! Let's go snowshoeing in Minnewaska State Park. This will double as a birthday celebration for Blaze member Max G 🙂 Being a part of the Blaze community has meant so much to me, and I’d be honored to celebrate in the great outdoors with everyone. Please bring snowshoes & poles if you own them, but if not, not to worry - we’ll be meeting at a place where we can rent. Don’t forget to reserve!
The Hike We will drive about 2 hours north of NYC to do a 6-7 mile loop with an elevation gain of 1,100 feet. Please note this hike is considered difficult, especially since we will be snowshoeing. The forecast looks beautiful but cold—highs in the 20s with plenty of sun.
The Itinerary
- 8:30 AM: Leave NYC.
- 10:00 AM: Meet at Rock & Snow in New Paltz to rent snowshoes and poles. Important: Please make your own reservation online in advance; they will likely sell out.
- 10:45 AM: Meet at the Minnewaska State Park Visitor Center to start the hike. (If you have your own snowshoes, you can meet us directly there).
- Post-Hike: We’ll celebrate with Beers & Bites at nearby beer garden Rough Cut Brewing Co., which serves house made craft brews and classic pub grub in a rustic, warm atmosphere, aiming to be back in NYC around 8:30 PM.
Carpool & RSVP Spots are limited by the number of drivers. Please answer the RSVP question regarding your car status. I will send out the carpool sheet on Thursday morning.
- Passengers: Please expect to contribute $20-$30 to your driver.
- Drivers: Note there is a $10 parking fee per car at the park.
Gear List
- Lunch, snacks, and at least 1.5 liters of water/tea.
- Good boots and warm clothes (layers, gloves, hat).
- Snowshoes with poles.
Can’t wait to see you on the trail! - Max & Milos
