Open Sourcery

Get your feet wet using free, open-source animation, drawing and audio editing software to develop the skills needed to bring your animation and design ideas to light.

We use all free open source software that you can use on your own computer at home. Join us each month and you'll soon be illustrating, modeling, editing and rendering cool projects on your own.

The class is $20 and includes snacks and drinks.

The Wednesday night group meets to work together using Flash to create cartoon shorts. Flash is not open source so participation is limited. While I will often show the group how to do something with Flash or how our production pipeline works there is little instruction.

Open Sourcery is a classroom setting including 3 hours of instruction and we'll also break for something to eat. After each class participants will have the basic skills needed to get them started with the software and go home with instructions and template files. A series of advanced classes are also scheduled each month for students that want to learn more.

Jerick, we discussed the 8 week courses shortly but I'll tell you more about those next time we hang out.

Is this meet up going to be any different then the "Weird Wednesday Cartoon Workshop"?
If I have the money by then, then I'm there :)
