Entrepreneur Social: Aaron Falvey, Director of the Northspur Feature Film

Our next Entrepreneur Social guest speaker, Aaron Falvey, will be filming his first full length feature film in Marlborough in November with the backing from Angel Investors Marlborough, who made a significant investment in this indie film, Northspur. This moment has been seven years in the making for Aaron.

“I've dreamed of this moment for a long time and now it’s finally a reality! I keep asking myself, is this really happening? Pinch! Yup! It's definitely happening”, Aaron says.

Aaron’s passion for the film industry runs high.

Bit by bit he’s been building a film industry in Marlborough in his spare time. Not that he has a lot of that, with a full-time job and four young kids at home.

In October, the 5th Top of the South Film Festival will be screening 16 films in Nelson, Motueka, Marlborough and Kaikoura. This is another project co-founded by Aaron. He says, “each year it is getting bigger and better”.

The festival is an outlet for the Top of the South Film Society - another entity co-founded by Aaron to foster film making talent in our region. The Film Society holds regular workshops to teach the fundamentals of film making. It also gives out film grants.

So you could say that Aaron had the vision for a Top of the South film industry and set out to create it.
