Together with PizzaDAO we are hosting a Pizza Party in celebration of the Bitcoin Pizza Day on Monday May 22 at 6PM.

13 years ago Laszlo Hanyecz, a Florida-based programmer and one of the pioneer Bitcoin miners, made a declaration on a Bitcoin forum, stating, "I'm willing to exchange 10,000 bitcoins for a few pizzas.. potentially 2 large ones, to ensure I have leftovers for the following day. I enjoy snacking on leftover pizza."

Jeremy Sturdivant, a 19-year-old who used the alias 'Jercos' on the forum, agreed to the proposition. He placed an order with Papa John's, an American pizza franchise, picked up the pizzas, and delivered them to Hanyecz's residence, receiving the bitcoin payment in exchange.

This trade was the first recorded purchase of a physical good using Bitcoin.
