About the speakers

Pablo Garcia Tello Graduated in Physics from the Complutense University of Madrid, Spain and has a PhD in Material Science by the Basque Country University in San Sebastian, Spain. He was Postdoctoral Associate and Teaching Assistant of Semiconductor Processing Technology in the Department of Material Science and Engineering at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Boston, USA. He has received among others the NXP Semiconductors Golden Patent of the Year award. At CERN he has been Knowledge Transfer (KT) Liaison Officer at CERN collaborating to enhance the KT CERN industrial network and relationships. Now he is section head of the CERN EU Office developing new EU funded projects and initiatives.

Dr. Aleksandra Sokolowska holds a BSc in Astronomy, MSc in Theoretical Physics and a Fast Track PhD in Computational Science at the University of Zurich, which is usually awarded to outstanding students seeking a scientific career. Over the years, she contributed with her work to our understanding of the environment of galaxies such as our own Milky Way. She is currently heading research and analytics branch of the ETH Zurich Spinoff Validity Labs, experimenting with the idea of decentralization in science and leveraging blockchain to support open collaboration. She also founded a non-profit organization to support careers of women in STEM called women++ and was selected as one of the Top 100 women in business in Switzerland in 2018.

Maximiliane Okonnek is a dedicated innovation and technology strategist. She has strong expertise in project development, building digital products and coordinating innovation and cooperation projects related to digital infrastructure and services for the education sector. She studied Japanese Studies and Management & Economics at University of Zurich and Doshisha University, Kyoto and holds a MA in Japanese Studies as well as a MSc in Digital Media Management from Steinbeis School of Management and Innovation, Berlin. After she studied and gained work experience in the automotive and ICT sector in Japan for 2 years, she came back to Switzerland and joined ETH Library in 2010. There she held various positions related to digital knowledge environments, communication strategy and innovation management. In April 2018 she embarked on a new journey to build ETH Library Lab, an interdisciplinary initiative striving to advance information infrastructure and services for science, research and education. Besides that she finished further education on “Leading digital transformation and innovation” at Hasso-Plattner-Institut Potsdam and Stanford University.

Dimitry Demin is a PropTech entrepreneur, innovative architect, engineer and researcher with degrees from universities in Russia, Germany and Switzerland. He has been working on groundbreaking projects in research and development area all over the world implementing Blockchain and Artificial Intelligence for running Smart Cities. As a strong believer in the power of algorithms as the backbone of human wealth, Demin founded AlgoTecture back in 2014 as a Research Project at the ETH Zurich.
