Meetup #2: Token Engineering Model, Polkadot & Parity Substrate, Snips AIR...

Details
Welcome to the Paris Blockchain Meetup! Each month, we’ll host a meetup tackling the trending deep tech topics in blockchain and its applications. Kicking off the Meetup this month, we’ll explore The Token Engineering Model Behind Kleros, the Polkadot & Parity Substrate and Snips AIR.
We are doing this meetup so that the deep tech community can hang in Paris, so join us if you are an engineer / cryptographer / mathematician or if you are interested in understanding how it all works!
When: June 27, 2018, 7:00pm CET
Where: Snips HQ, 18 rue Saint-Marc 75002 Paris
RSVP: https://www.meetup.com/fr-FR/blockchain-paris-meetup/
This event is open to the general public. Please share it with your networks.

Program:
7:00PM - Walk-in
7:25PM - Opening and word of welcome by Rand Hindi, Founder & CEO, Snips
7:30PM - Analysing The Token Engineering Model Behind Kleros
Clément Lesaege, CTO @Kleros
Since the creation of Bitcoin, projects have gotten more and more ambitious and Kleros is one of them. As an arbitration network and unlike Bitcoin, Kleros requires active participation from users. Thus, the game mechanics required to create tangible and robust incentives for decentralized users to behave in the intended way is a lot more complex. Clément, the CTO of Kleros will present the tech behind Kleros, from the idea origination to its current Interactive Coin Offering”.
8:00PM - Polkadot & Parity Substrate - A new foundation for blockchain innovators
Fabian Gompf - Parity Technologies
Polkadot is a multi-chain network that aims to solve the current issues facing blockchains today including scalability, security, and interoperability. By allowing independent blockchains to create their own state-transition machines, govern themselves, and communicate with other blockchains, Polkadot will usher in the next generation of blockchains and innovation. Polkadot is being built on Parity Substrate, a framework for blockchain innovators that supports cutting-edge technologies such as WebAssembly. Substrate allows people to create networks that include governance and speed built-in from the beginning.
8:30PM - Snips AIR: a Private-by-Design, Open-Source, Decentralized Voice Assistant
Rand Hindi, CEO @Snips
Snips is a voice assistant that runs fully on-device, without processing anything in the cloud, guaranteeing privacy and resilience to mass surveillance. In 2019, we will be launching a new consumer device, Snips AIR, a private-by-design, open source, decentralized alternative to Alexa. In this talk, we will explore how using a token enables anonymous voice payments, as well as running our appstore as a token-curated registry, and finally enable users to participate in decentralized machine learning.
9:00PM - Drinks & Bites
