Digital Assets Regulation – how did we get here and where do we go next?
Tim will walk us through both the sensible and less-sensible attempts at regulation over the years. Digital Assets licensing is a hot topic and Tim takes us through the current consultations and gives us his insight on where regulation might be headed next.

Tim is a senior associate at Piper Alderman specialising in corporate advisory services, financial services, digital assets and emerging technologies.
Tim advises a wide range of corporate clients from start-ups and large-scale enterprises, investors, digital currency exchanges, funds, and fintechs. He is experienced with a variety of contractual and transactional work, regulatory advice, and corporate governance/management and structuring. Tim leverages significant blockchain knowledge to achieve the best results for his clients operating within the digital assets and fintech spaces.
Tim is also an active member of the business law community in New South Wales and has served many years as a member on the policy committees of The Law Society of New South Wales, presently serving as the deputy chair of the Business Law Committee. In this capacity, Tim assists government bodies and industry regulators work towards sensible law reform, develop legal policy and legislation, and provide practical guidance to the legal profession on changes to the law.

Seasoned crypto-currency veterans going back as far as 2011 who attended and co-organised the very 1st ever bitcoin meetups in Sydney in 2014 at the Martin Place Bar, GPO Bar and SG Bar. Rob was responsible for relocating the bitcoin meetup to the Metropolitan Hotel after persuading the owners into accepting bitcoin and installing a bitcoin ATM.
