Fireside chat with Eric Grill, ChainBytes CEO: eight years since the banks shut

Details
Eight years and two weeks ago the banks were closed in Greece. At the time, we did not know whether we would wake up with Drachmas instead of Euros, a deposit haircut or both. No-one could send money abroad. A number of people from Europe and the US descended upon Athens preaching Bitcoin at Syntagma square to anyone who would listen. Others, brought Bitcoin ATMs with them. In fact, three such ATMs were headed to The Cube the day we held our meetup on July 14th, 2015 (one got stuck at customs!).
Eric Grill, CEO of ChainBytes (a Bitcoin ATM provider) is re-joining us to reminisce and talk about the progress of the Bitcoin community & how Bitcoin is even more relevant worldwide, alongside Stavros Messinis of The Cube. Our own Anni Panagiotopoulou will be hosting.
Read Eric's and Stavros' accounts of that time in https://cointelegraph.com/news/greek-bitcoin-community-spreads-the-word-amidst-violence and in [https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/στην-αθήνα-τα-bitcoins-ψηφιακό-οδοιπορικό-στα-ατμs-androniki-pavlidou/](https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/στην-αθήνα-τα-bitcoins-ψηφιακό-οδοιπορικό-στα-ατμs-androniki-pavlidou/) (in Greek).
A bar will be available!
Attendance is free. Join us at the brand-new The Cube at Solonos 9: https://maps.app.goo.gl/KJCwfDDwQh4uuJa46
